Polymetallic Holding Seligdar (hereafter Seligdar) has sponsored the Chess Cup of the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The Cup of the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is an all-Russian competition with the status of the Russian Men's Chess Cup stage — the second of 15 qualifying stages in 2024. The competition will be held from January 22 to February 1, 2024 in Yakutsk. The tournament takes place in the Republic for the second time.

Seligdar constantly supports various sports events. The tradition of helping sportsmen has become an integral part of our sponsorship and charity policy. ‘This event, thanks to the high status of the Cup of the Republic’s Head as well as the participation of international grandmasters will undoubtedly help the development of chess in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)’, said Sergey Tatarinov, CEO of Seligdar PJSC.

All men with a rating of 1,800 plus and women with a rating of 1,700 plus interested in the all-Russian chess competitions were invited to participate. The best participants of the Head's Cup will receive scoring points for admission to the final part of the Russian Chess Cup 2024.

Six international grandmasters have confirmed their participation in this year's competition.
